Is it better to own your own home or to rent?
Audio
Answer: In my opinion, owning your own home is preferable to renting. There's a sense of pride and stability that comes with home ownership that renting simply can't offer. When you own your home, you have the freedom to personalize and make changes according to your preferences. Plus, a house is also a long-term investment. Over time, property values tend to rise. So, if you ever sell it in the future, you are sure to make a profit. In a nutshell, having your own home definitely enhances your autonomy and boosts your assets.
Vocabulary.
Preferable (adj): ưu tiên, ưa thích hơn
Stability (n): sự ổn định
Property (n): nhà đất
Personalize (v): cá nhân hóa
Enhance (v): tăng cường
Autonomy (n): tính tự chủ
Asset (n): tài sản
How are relations between neighbors different in cities and in the countryside?
Audio
Answer: In cities, neighborly relations tend to be more vague. People live busy lives and often don't have the time or opportunity to get to know the folks living next door. On the other hand, living in the countryside often fosters a stronger sense of community. Neighbors tend to know each other better, often looking out for one another. You might lend a cup of sugar to your neighbor, or they might offer to help with a yard project. It's a more close-knit environment where people tend to build stronger bonds.
Vocabulary.
vague (adj): mơ hồ
next door (adv): ở nhà hàng xóm
look out for (v): chăm sóc, để ý
close-knit (adj): chặt chẽ
How easy is it to find a place to live in your country?
Audio
Answer: It really depends on a few factors. In larger cities like Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, there's a plethora of options, from serviced apartments to local homestays. Finding a place is a breeze - websites and rental agencies abound. However, competition can be fierce, especially for desirable locations. On the other hand, navigating the housing market in smaller towns can be a different story. While there might be fewer options, language can become a barrier. Landlords who don't speak English might require a local Vietnamese friend to help translate listings and negotiate terms. It can be a bit of a wild goose chase, but with some patience and perseverance, one can find a suitable place.
Vocabulary.
plethora (n): vô số
serviced apartment (n): căn hộ dịch vụ
breeze (n): chuyện dễ dàng
abound (v): dồi dào
fierce (adj): khốc liệt
desirable (adj): đáng mong muốn

term (n): điều khoản
wild goose chase (idiom): cuộc truy tìm vô vọng
Do you agree that there is a right age for young adults to stop living with their parents?
Audio
Answer: I don’t think there is a specific "right age" to move out. Maturity and independence come at different paces for everyone. However, there can be benefits to young adults eventually leaving the nest. Firstly, it fosters a sense of self-reliance. Living on their own teaches young adults valuable life skills like budgeting, managing a household, and navigating responsibilities. It allows them to spread their wings and truly learn to stand on their own two feet. Secondly, living independently can strengthen relationships with parents. While some distance can create fondness, it can also lead to a renewed appreciation for family time. Regular visits and phone calls can become more meaningful when not taken for granted.
Vocabulary.
Specific (adj): cụ thể
Pace (n): nhịp độ
Nest (n): tổ ấm
Foster (v): nuôi dưỡng
Self-reliance (n): tính tự lập
Navigate (v): điều hướng
Spread one's wings (idiom): vươn ra thế giới
Stand on one's own two feet (idiom): tự lập
Fondness (n): tình cảm
Taken for granted (idiom): coi là điều hiển nhiên
What kinds of accommodation are common in your country?
Audio
Answer: Vietnam offers a fantastic range of accommodation options to suit any budget and travel style. For budget-conscious travelers, guesthouses and hostels are a popular choice. They provide a social atmosphere and a chance to mingle with fellow adventurers, all at a very reasonable price. On the other hand, for those seeking a more luxurious experience, Vietnam boasts world-class hotels and resorts, especially in popular tourist destinations like Nha Trang or Phu Quoc. These places offer all the bells and whistles – stunning ocean views, impeccable service, and top-notch amenities – allowing visitors to unwind in style.
