Speaking IELTS Part 1 Topic Friends Questions
Câu hỏi mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1: Friends

1.1 Do you have many friends?

Actually, I don't have many friends, mostly because it would take a lot of effort to remain in touch with everyone. I would rather spend my time cultivating solid friendships.

Especially with individuals who would rather not be gloomy or pessimistic about their life.

I have two extremely close buddies that I adore.

1.2 How often do you see or meet your friends?

I try to visit my friends at least once a month, which may not seem like much, but it seems to be enough for us to keep each other current on our lives by chatting about the topics that touch us on a daily basis. We've gotten so busy that we can't see one other every day, or even every other day, despite how much we enjoy spending time together.

1.3 Is there anything special about your friends?

I'm not sure what "special" means in this context, but all of my friends are "special" to me since we all look out for each other in whatever "capacity" we have. However, if you were to ask me to describe a specific "skill" or "quality," I would answer that one of my friends is a "champion" of an inter-city "chess" playing an event.

1.4 Are your friends mostly your age or different ages?

My pals are largely my age, however, I wouldn't mind having friends of a different age range as well. However, I like to hang out with folks my age since it is easier to relate to them because we all tend to talk, act, and think in similar ways.

1.5 What did you do with your friends the last time you met them?

Because of our hectic schedules, it is uncommon that all of our friends can connect and get together at the same time and in the same place, but when it does happen, we try to make the most of it. So, the last time we all got together, we went to one of our favorite restaurants in town for a delicious supper.

1.6 What do you think makes a great friend?

Well, I believe that it is essential for a friend to be kind and considerate. If I make a friend who just cares about themselves, especially if they are arrogant and egotistical, I will be put off and will want to avoid the topic. An excellent buddy will give you sensible counsel, keep your feet on the ground, and be supportive of your decisions.

Sample 1:

Describe a friend from your childhood.

You should say:

  • how you met this friend

  • how long you were friends & what did you together

  • what made you like him/ her

Talking about "old" friends is as invigorating as it is soothing and reassuring, especially if they are childhood buddies. So, I'd want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak about one of my childhood buddies since it brings back so many happy memories.

His name was "Eric Sunny," and I met him during an inter-district school football (soccer) competition when several football teams from other districts came to my school to compete. Anyway, Eric was an outstanding player for one of our opponents, and I wanted to seek some friendly advice from him on playing good football in general.

Eric used to come to visit me from his hometown, just as I used to visit his hometown, to perform a variety of things, such as flying kites, swimming, and fishing in lakes, hanging out at restaurants and cafés, watching movies, and, of course, occasionally playing football. During our summer vacations and other extended holidays, we used to visit several interesting destinations in our country. I loved Eric for a variety of reasons, but his upbeat and helpful demeanor is what set him apart from the pack.

Describe a friend that you remember from childhood.

You should say about:

  • Who this friend is;

  • What you remember from this friend;

  • And explain how he/she influences you.

To be honest, when someone asks me about a childhood buddy, the only person I can recall distinctly is Mike, who was both my next-door neighbor and a classmate. Mike is someone I greatly appreciate for a variety of reasons. To begin with, he was not only an amazing student, but he was also really helpful. Despite his intelligence, he spent more time studying than any of us in the class, whether it was a required or elective topic. He worked really hard and was one of the students with the best-in-class performance. Plus, he would frequently give me a lesson if I were having difficulty with my studies. He also provided me with a lot of encouragement and even sent me some of his study tools. I share with him in my life, from relationship conflicts to work disputes. He’s a really good listener, I must admit.

Sample 3:

Describe one of your best friends.

You should say:

  • who is he/she

  • what you do together

  • and explain why you think s/he is your best friend.

Friendship is one of the most precious gifts that not everyone is blessed with. Lucky are those people with friends that can be trusted and wish to stay forever. My best friend is also my father and a person whom I have hugely admired my entire life.

He is the man who is looked up to as a role model among family members. My father is the most critical person in the family who imposes administration and strict discipline. He establishes a set of rules and regulations that all family members need to abide by. This binds our family in harmony. When there is some sort of danger to our family, my father stands strong like a pillar to encounter everything. Just like our mother protects her children, our father protects the whole family.

My father is also a spiritual person and teaches us how to live an upright life. He told us not to ignore people in difficult times and help them to whatever extent we can. I have gradually realized how much of who I am was shaped by who he was. I am constantly active doing something constructive or educational. He taught me that generosity is a state of mind, not a state of the wallet.

One of the most remarkable things about my father was the number of things he was interested in. My father enjoys reading, he is an avid reader with an impressive library of books. He is also technically adept at making pottery and I have never missed any of his weekly pottery classes.

A father’s love, dedication and contribution are unseen, and he endures persistent pain to ensure his child’s development. There is no doubt that my father’s role is pivotal in my life. His presence is prominent in maintaining the balance and peace in my family. My father is held in high regard and I try to imbibe his qualities so that I can become a good human being.

Sample 4:

Describe one of your best friends.

You should say:

  • who is he/she

  • what you do together

  • and explain why you think s/he is your best friend.

Friendship is a great blessing in everyone’s life. We shall find a few people who think in our wavelength with similar taste and nature. Gradually, a relationship develops that leaves abiding impressions in one’s life.

Kye, my best friend, is truly a blessing. I sincerely believe that he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is a constant source of motivation.

I can’t even remember when we became friends which shows how long we have been friends. Kye is of average height, but he is very muscular as he hits the gym every day. He also has deep-set, brown eyes.

I and Kye are complete opposites in character. Kye is such a hilarious friend who is always cracking jokes and poking fun at situations while I am more serious and easily physically and mentally stressed at any situation. Kye is also a down-to-Earth guy and a kind soul. He spends his free time doing volunteer work at a local orphanage. He genuinely cares about others, and he does things from the heart to help others in any way possible.

He is the friend I turn to when I feel pressured or troubled. It is his voice of reason that helps me calm down and reminds me to remain composed at all times. We both inspire each other to become better humans. We encourage each other to do our best and we are always available when needed. Kye is the person on whom I can truly count on throughout my life.

In short, the most memorable moments in everybody’s lives will be the ones spent with the closest friends. A best friend is indeed a precious gem and I consider myself fortunate enough to have found mine.

Sample 5:

Describe one of your best friends.

You should say:

  • who is he/she

  • what you do together

  • and explain why you think s/he is your best friend.

Friendship is an extraordinary gift in anyone’s life. I am, for sure, fortunate enough to have my grandmother as my best friend even at this point.

My grandmother has glistening eyes like the water in the autumn. She has gorgeous long pepper-and-salt hair that everyone praises. Those wrinkles on her face are signs of true beauty, and her soft, bubbly cheeks are the most squeezable in the world.

My grandmother is the mother of the whole house. When every member of the family is sick, she is the one who always takes care of family members and does not hesitate to stay awake to watch over the loved one who needs care.

I feel I am the luckiest person to have my grandmother with me. She has taught me to treat both elders and the youngsters with respect. She has also taught me how to overcome all the struggles of life. Her heart is one of the purest forms, her love is non-malignant and non-blotched by any superficial traits of the world outside. Because of her, I have understood the reality of life, and now I know how to lead a successful life ahead and overcome all the obstacles.

One of my grandmother’s quotes about being spiritually strong that I approvingly adopt is ‘’ You are a stone that even if you are thrown away, you will not break; you are a river that you will always follow the flow; and you stand as a light to those who have lost hope and are buried in the abyss.’’

Even today she takes care of me like a small child. To me, she is the source of perpetual peace, the waterfalls of joy and the utter bliss that guide me through the dark and take me to better days!

Sample 6:

Describe one of your best friends.

You should say:

  • who is he/she

  • what you do together

  • and explain why you think s/he is your best friend.

We all live in an interdependent society in which every human being, whether directly or indirectly, relies on the other in various forms for fulfillment of their needs. Siblings learn virtues of caring and sharing by staying together in a family. My elder brother is also my guide and my best friend who always prioritizes family holding the most important place in his heart.

My elder brother is tall, with black hair and big sparkling eyes. He has a Chinese look inherited by our father. A strong and supportive person, yet very authoritative, too, he is. He is also organized, systematic and has great values, which I have learned from him. Watching my brother go through the trials of life has helped me to resist certain temptations that I would otherwise succumb to. I was able to see the mistakes he made and avoid making them in my own life.

As time passes by, we have become further apart on our journey called life, in search of our life destinations. However, regardless of where we are, we know that we are there for each other and distance has never been a barrier when we need each other. He has always been and still continues to be by my side at every stage of my life.

He has taught me how to fight against all the odds of life. My elder brother’s positive attitude inspires me to excel in all of my tasks, however tough they appear to be. As an open-minded individual, he is always looking for ways to improve himself, both on the personal front and professionally too.

He is indeed the biggest role model, literally and figuratively, in my life. He is not only my best friend, but also a co-conspirator, and an extension of myself.

Speaking IELTS Part 3 Topic Friends Questions
Câu hỏi mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Friends

3.1 Do you have a lot of close friends?

I only have one buddy with whom I would confide. I'm extremely choosy, and more significantly, I have an illogical dread that none of my friends like me, that I'm simply a person they can barely endure, and that it's difficult for me to live in harmony with them.

3.2 Is it important to stay in touch with your friends throughout the years?

Yes, it is critical not to lose touch with your pals... Everyone evolves, and even close friends can move apart. However, in my opinion, friends are your second family, and we should value them strongly.

3.3 Would you prefer to have one good friend or many friends?

I would rather have one close buddy than a large number of pals. The reason for this is that the former will undoubtedly be there for you when you want assistance, but the latter may or may not. That is why I would choose a wonderful buddy who can be a shoulder to weep on.

3.4 Which do you prefer: to spend time with a friend or spend time alone?

It all depends. Normally, I'm a loner who prefers to spend time alone rather than with others. But when I'm down, loneliness makes me feel alienated from the rest of the world. On those days, I would spend time with my pals to keep gloomy and negative thoughts at bay.

3.5 Do you think it is possible to become real friends with people you meet on the internet?

Of course, it is possible to form genuine connections with people you meet online. In a friendship, you need honesty, dependability, empathy, respect, and loyalty. If you obtain all of that from your online buddies, you may consider them real friends.

TỪ VỰNG:

  • Confide (v): tâm sự

  • Illogical (adj): phi logic

  • Dread (n): nỗi sợ

  • Endure (v); chịu đựng

  • Harmony with (v): hòa hợp

  • Evolve (v): phát triển, thay đổi

  • Weep on (v): khóc

  • Alienate from (v): xa lánh
