Câu hỏi thường gặp
Question 1: Do you enjoy birthdays?
Sample answer:
I like birthday gatherings better when I was small. But the older I get, the more I stop being excited about birthdays. The main cause is that I don't have much time to celebrate birthdays since I have an absurd amount of work on my plate. That's really extremely depressing.
Vocabulary:
Birthday gatherings: Những buổi họp mặt sinh nhật
Have something on your plate (idiom): Có gì đó phải làm
Depressing (adj): Chán nản.
Absurd (adj): Vô lí.
Question 2: What do people in your country do to celebrate birthdays?
Sample answer:
People can celebrate their birthdays in Vietnam in a variety of ways. The most frequent activity is throwing a party when friends and family are present. A birthday cake, cards, and presents from the celebrants will also be given to the person being celebrated. However, none of what I just said is required.
Vocabulary:
Frequent (adj): Thường xuyên
Throw a party: Tổ chức một buổi tiệc
Celebrant (n): Người tham dự 1 buổi tiệc ăn mừng.
Question 3: How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Sample answer:
First and foremost, I want to emphasize that I dislike throwing parties, especially on my birthday. As a result, I prefer something informal and cozy, such as a small gathering with nice food. Second, and most crucially, in my perspective, the person who should receive all of the attention should be my mother, who gave birth to me. So, to convey my thanks, I usually do all of the cleaning and cooking on my birthday.
Vocabulary:
Emphasize (n): Nhấn mạnh
Informal (adj): Không trang trọng
Give birth to someone (v): Sinh ra ai đó.
Convey (v): Truyền đạt.
Question 4: What did you do on your last birthday?
Sample answer
As I was saying, I've been very busy in recent years, so I didn't do anything for my last birthday. To be more precise, I woke up earlier than usual and cooked something for my mother, whom I always regard to be the star of my birthday celebrations. Following that, I met up with some of my closest friends for a drink and then went to the movies or stuff like that. Simple, but really enjoyable for me.
Vocabulary:
Emphasize (n): Nhấn mạnh
Informal (adj): Không trang trọng
Give birth to someone (v): Sinh ra ai đó.
Convey (v): Truyền đạt.
Question 5: Which birthdays are considered important in your country?
Sample answer:
I'm not sure whether there are any truly significant or important birthdays in Vietnam. The only thing that comes to me is my 18th birthday, which is rather significant. A person of that age is legally considered an adult who must answer for his or her actions. People above the age of 18 can also consume alcohol and obtain a driver's license.
Vocabulary:
Significant (adj): Đáng kể, quan trọng
Legally (adv): Hợp pháp
Obtain (v): Giành được, lấy được
Driver’s license : Giấy phép lái xe.
Question 6: How do people often celebrate birthdays in your country?
Sample answer:
What I've found is that, in the past, Vietnamese people used to stay at home and host indoor parties. However, they now take vacations for a variety of reasons, including birthdays. And DOL English, my firm, is a perfect example. We are set to celebrate our fifth birthday by visiting Nha Trang city, a popular tourist site, this weekend. And I'm so happy because we're going to have so much fun!
Vocabulary:
Indoor parties: Tiệc trong nhà
Take vacations: Đi du lịch
Tourist site: Khu du lịch
Question 7: What kinds of birthday gifts do you like to receive?
Sample answer:
I am quite simple when it comes to birthday gifts, I usually appreciate anything that is thoughtful and personal. For example, a handmade card or a sentimental item such as a photo frame would be very special to me. Alternatively, I also like practical gifts such as books, gadgets or experiences like a cooking class or concert tickets. Ultimately, it's the thought and effort put into a gift that matters the most to me.
Vocabulary:
"thoughtful" (adjective) - cẩn thận, chăm chú
"personal" (adjective) - cá nhân
"appreciate" (verb) - đánh giá cao, trân trọng
Question 8: How did you celebrate your last birthday?
Sample answer:
Last year for my birthday, I celebrated it with my close friends and family. We had a small get-together at a local restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious meal and shared some memorable moments. Question 9: Which birthdays are considered important in your country?
Sample answer:
In my country, several birthdays are considered important. For instance, a person's first birthday, also known as their 'first birthday' or 'baby's first birthday,' is usually a significant occasion as it marks the completion of a full year of life and is celebrated with close family members. Another important birthday is the 18th birthday, which is often seen as the transition from childhood to adulthood and is celebrated with friends and family. Similarly, the 21st birthday is also an important milestone, marking the legal age for many adult privileges.
Vocabulary:
To be considered (verb) - được coi là
Instance (noun) - ví dụ
Milestone (noun) - đỉnh điểm
Question 10: Do you think it is important for you to celebrate your birthday?
Sample answer:
Personally, I believe it is important to celebrate one's birthday. Birthdays are a yearly reminder of the passage of time and offer an opportunity to reflect on the past year and set goals for the future. Celebrating birthdays with loved ones is also a great way to build and strengthen relationships and create meaningful memories. Additionally, birthdays are a chance to have fun, let loose and simply enjoy life. While the manner in which one celebrates their birthday may vary, I think taking the time to acknowledge and celebrate the occasion is important.
