Nhữn câu hỏi mẫu Speaking Part 1 topic Sport

Do you like sports?

I know you'd expect me to say yes because most men tend to play sports, but not me. I have no interest in it just because I find it to be quite meaningless. You don't really gain anything from sport aside from entertainment. Some would argue that you can keep fit too but it's just as effective as going to the gym.

  • expect (v): mong đợi

  • have no interest in (v): không có hứng thú với việc gì

  • meaningless (a): vô nghĩa

  • argue (v): tranh cãi

  • effective (a): hiệu quả

  • going to the gym: đi đến phòng gym

What’s your favourite sport?

Like I said, I’m not much of a sports fan but if I have to choose the most tolerable sport, it'd be chess. The reason is simply that chess requires some kind of intelligence and mental strength. With other types of sports it's just mostly physical strength that comes to play.

  • the most tolerable sport (n): môn thể thao dễ chịu nhất

  • chess (n): cờ vua

  • intelligence and mental strength (n): trí thông minh và sức mạnh tinh thần

  • physical strength (n): sức mạnh thể chất

  • comes to play (v): vào cuộc

How often do you watch sports matches?

Well as I have mentioned before, I don't really take an interest in sports. That's why over the course of my life I've only watched probably fewer than 10 matches. I'd just rather spend my time doing something else!

  • as I have mentioned before: như tôi vừa nói

  • take an interest (v): có hứng thú

  • over the course of my life: xuyên suốt trong cuộc đời tôi

  • something else (n): thứ gì đó khác

Are you a fan of any sports teams, why?

I have to say no, simply because I don't like sports in the first place. When I was young and easily influenced by people, I used to support my local team out of fear of being ostracised. Now that I'm an adult with actual independence I don't support any team.

  • in the first place (adv): ngay từ đầu

  • easily influenced by people (a): dễ bị ảnh hưởng bởi người khác

  • support (v): ủng hộ

  • out of fear of being ostracized: sợ bị tẩy chay

  • actual independence (n): sự độc lập thực sự

What is the most popular sport in your country?

Well, I'm from Vietnam so it's football, unfortunately. I know a lot of people like it and it's fine to me but sometimes people can take it too far! Like, whenever their team wins they tend to go out on the street and celebrate like there's no tomorrow, which is a weird behaviour considering that they have done nothing to contribute to the victory.

  • unfortunately (adv): không may thay

  • take it too far (v): mang chuyện đó đi quá xa

  • like there's no tomorrow: như không có ngày mai

  • a weird behaviour (n): một lối hành xử kỳ lạ

  • contribute (v): đóng góp

How do most people in your country keep fit?

I would say going to the gym is the most common choice, but it can cost quite a bit. That's why some people just decide to exercise at home or in the park. Some also play sports to stay in shape.

  • the most common choice (n): sự lựa chọn phổ biến nhất

  • cost quite a bit (v): tốn kha khá tiền

  • exercise (v): tập thể dục

  • stay in shape (v): giữ cơ thể khoẻ mạnh

Do you often watch sports on TV?

Definitely yes, I have a busy schedule, so I don’t have enough time to watch a match in person. Then, watching it on TV is the optimal choice. My whole family is keen on American football. Every time the Superbowl, the biggest international sporting event, is held, we gather in front of the TV and really enjoy the show.

  • busy schedule (n): thời gian biểu bận rộn

  • match (n): trận đấu

  • in person: trực tiếp

  • optimal choice (n): sự lựa chọn tối ưu

  • the biggest international sporting event (n): sự kiện thể thao quốc tế lớn nhất

What is the most popular sport in your country?

Due to the fact that Vietnamese people seem to have a healthy lifestyle, I would say that we love all kinds of sports. However, if I had to choose the most popular one, it would be soccer, which is known as the king of sport. This is because Vietnam has a collectivist culture, which means that a sense of community is very important. Therefore, they are interested in sports that can enhance team spirit

  • healthy lifestyle (n): lối sống lành mạnh

  • collectivist culture (n): văn hoá tập thể

  • a sense of community (n): tinh thần cộng đồng

  • enhance (v): nâng cao

  • team spirit (n): tinh thần đồng đội

Do you prefer watching or playing sports?

As a person who likes to engage in outdoor activities, I would prefer playing sports. I can’t deny the benefits of playing sports. It helps me to keep my body in shape, and increase resistance to illness. Moreover, I love the sense of winning, especially when you put a lot of effort and determination into it.

  • engage in (v): tham gia vào

  • outdoor activities (n): hoạt động ngoài trời

  • deny (v): phủ nhận

  • keep my body in shape (v): giữ thân hình tôi cân đối

  • increase resistance to illness (v): tăng cường khả năng chống ại bệnh tật

  • sense of winning (n): cảm giác chiến thắng

  • put a lot of effort and determination (v): bảo nhiều cố gắng và quyết tâm

Are boys and girls interested in the same sports?

I don’t think so. I think boys tend to be into extreme sports that require physical strength while girls are keen on more tolerable sports. For example, wrestling and rock climbing are played more by male players. On the other hand, girls are huge fans of volleyball and gymnastics. However, there are still some exceptions, and people are consistent in their pursuits.

  • extreme sports (n): thể thao cảm giác mạnh, nguy hiểm

  • physical strength (n): sức mạnh thể lực

  • tolerable sports (n): các môn thể thao nhẹ nhàng

  • wrestling (n): đấu vật

  • are huge fans of (v): là người hâm mộ của

  • gymnastics (n): thể dục dụng cụ

  • exceptions (n): ngoại lệ

  • pursuits (n): sự theo đuổi

Question:

Talk about your favorite sport. You should say:

– What it is?

– How you first knew about it?

– How often you practise it?

– And explain why it is your favourite sport.

(Football)

I have a very healthy lifestyle, which means that I play different kinds of sports. However, I would like to talk about my favorite one, which is football. It is known as the King of sport in Vietnam.

If my memory serves me right, I knew football when I was only 4 or 5. I remember the kids in the neighborhood asked me to play with them on a playground in front of my house every afternoon. I didn’t know what to do but kicked the ball. Then, I grew my passion for soccer after I watched the World Cup in 2010. The team spirit is the thing that I love the most about this game.

When I was still in high school, I played it every weekend with my classmates. We normally rent a football pitch for a few hours to practice. Sometimes, my friends and I actively participated in all school events if there were any competitions in soccer. We also took part in regional games and achieved a few medals. Unfortunately, I’m quite busy now, so I almost quit playing. However, I still follow my favorite teams and maintain a habit of watching football on TV

There are many reasons why I love this sport. Firstly, since soccer requires constant movements, I can burn a great number of my calories when playing it. This helps me to keep my body fit. Secondly, I appreciate the team spirit of this game. It’s not about individual playing. If you want to win the game, you need mutual understanding and support from all the team members. I truly feel like my team is an actual family. We take care of each other and will always be there if anybody needs help. And that is the ultimate goal of playing sports, which is connecting people.

  • healthy lifestyle (n): lối sống lành mạnh

(Swimming)

There are many sports that I play on a regular basis. However, if I had to choose one, it would be swimming. And I believe it is the favorite sport of most Vietnamese people

When I was 12 years old. My mother took me to a swimming pool near my home and signed me up for a swimming course with a personal instructor. Actually, it was not the first time I went to a pool. However, all I did before was just soak my body in the water. So, I was so excited to learn how to swim. It only took me about 2 weeks to be able to swim at a good length. I got a chance to learn how to breathe under the water and how to make my body float. I feel like it’s not too hard to swim, but it requires a little investment.

Fortunately, I still maintain the habit of swimming every weekend. There are many good spots surrounding my place, so I don’t have to commute too far. Besides, swimming is such a great way to avoid the boiling hot weather of Ho Chi Minh.

Numerous reasons could be given to explain why I love doing this activity. Most importantly, it helps me to keep my body in shape. Swimming is a combination of hand and leg movements, which explains why it is beneficial for people who want to lose weight. In addition, since I enjoy the feeling of immersing myself in the water, I think swimming also positively contributes to my mental health. It refreshes my mind and recharges the battery needed for a new week. Last but not least, my eating habit has improved since I started swimming regularly. I actually have fewer digestive disorders and find food more delectable.

(Cycling)

Well, I have to admit that I have a sedentary lifestyle, which means that I’m not very interested in many kinds of sports. However, cycling is the one that pops up in my mind, and in fact, I cycle on a daily basis.

It’s been a while so I couldn’t tell a specific time when I got to know this activity. The only thing imprinted in my memory is that the kids in my neighborhood asked me if I wanted to learn how to ride a bike. Of course, I agreed to give it a try. To be honest, I struggled to balance the bike and fell several times. It was not as easy as I had imagined, I thought it was just like a piece of cake. However, after a couple of hours, I was able to cycle, and we had a very fun time.

As I mentioned above, I cycle every morning. Because the distance between my workplace and my home is not very far, I choose to travel to work by bike. It was exhausting sometimes, especially on rainy days. Otherwise, I find it interesting to see people on the street and immerse myself in the hectic pace of life in the city.

There are numerous reasons why I love cycling. Needless to say, I’m not a huge fan of extreme sports since they are too violent, and I don’t want to engage in severe injuries. Therefore, cycling is a perfect fit for me. Moreover, cycling is an optimal choice for environmental sustainability. This means of transport doesn’t produce any fumes or emissions, which makes me feel like I can contribute something to the environment. Finally, it would be absurd if I don’t mention that cycling every day helps me to enhance my state of health as well as improve my blood circulation
